On September 28, 2008, Jian Wu's painting
Guitar Player was awarded "BEST OF SHOW" at
THE BEST OF AMERICA! — Eighteenth Annual Fine Art Competition and Exhibition of the National Oil and
Acrylic Painters' Society. This is the third time Jian has won award form the same event. In October 2007,
Jian's painting Black and White won "Best Use of Color and Light" award. In 2005, Jian's oil painting
Summer at the Niles was honored
"Best Use of Color and Light" award as well.
In October 2008, Jian Wu's pastel painting Diana was awarded the "Second Place" of portrait and figure category in Pastel Journal's 10th annual Pastel 100 Competition. Jian participated the annual competition in 2007 and 2005, and won the "Fist Place" and the "Second Place" Award of the same category in the previous competitions.

"Honorable Mention" Award
In October 2008, Jian Wu's pastel painting The Soldier was awarded "Honorable Mention" of portrait and figure category in Pastel Journal's 10th annual Pastel 100 Competition. The Soldier is one of the two paintings Jian submitted to the current Pastel 100 Competition. The other painting, Diana, was awarded the "Second Place" in the same category.
On April 11, 2008, Jian Wu's painting
Light-Drapery-Figure was awarded
"Honorable Mention for Artistic Excellence"
at Solon International 2008 — A Juried Exhibition of 305 Oil Paintings that selected from 1175 entries representing 47 states and DC of the USA and 16 additional countries.
In December 2007, Jian Wu's pastel painting Old Man in Ancient Chinese Costume was awarded the "FIRST PLACE" of portrait and figure category in Pastel Journal's 9th annual Pastel 100 Competition.
Jian participated the anuual pastel competition in 2005, and won the Second Place in the same category.
Both award winning paintings were demo works he did
in class for his students.
